OVERALL OPINION I used 2 years and came back to PC with Cubase 5 full version because I criticized the essential not to have some tools like VariAudio.
Low latency sound card M-AUDIO Fast Track Ultra. I had a big Intel Core 2 Duo with 4G Ram a 250GB hard drive in Sata.
You may also want to uninstall & reinstall your audio drivers, update your drivers.or even just go in and restart the Service of your audio interface in Windows 'Services'. I used it on Macbook Pro (only 2 USB ports). While at it, you DO actually have your primary audio interface 'selected' as your ASIO device within Cubase? I at times have found that my sound card got 'deselected' by accident somehow, and I was running on something generic.in which my audio was whacked without my 'real' interface. If say, you disconnect it, and just 'play back' the same problematic project, using either your built in card, or a different audio interface, does it make any difference? The other thing I'd wonder about is your audio interface. For an all-in-one-for everything machine, I'll stick to the 3 hard drive formula. īut I'll use only 2 hard drives in a dedicated VSTi machine, being I don't need an audio hard drive, or 2 hard drives in an audio only machine if I'm not using VSTi's in it. I generally follow the 3 hard drive formula of. They all have 4 GB installed ram and up to 3 hard drives each. I run all VSTi's on dedicated VSTi machines, and all audio tracks on a dedicated audio machine. I'm still just using Win XP with 4 GB ram, but then I have 3 identical quad core machines in which I sync together (as needed) for more resources. Besides adding another HDD and more ram, you may want to experiment as to which FX's or VSTi's may be causing a problem.or realize the level of resources you're using up that may be the end of your rope.do this by eliminating them one by one, or eliminate them all, and add one by one as a standard means of troubleshooting. You may also want to start using the cubase Freeze function, which should help conserve resources. 14 tracks should be ok for even your specs, but it's hard to say what FX's and/or VSTi's may be pushing you over the top for resources. Personally I think you not only should have more ram, but add another hard drive at minimum from the start anyway! But I'd also check the Windows Task manager for disk & ram usages, as well as the Cubase activity meter to get an idea of what's going on.
